Police protection in Laurel Hollow is being threatened. Members of our Board of Trustees are engaged in efforts to eliminate the white glove police service Laurel Hollow receives, use our tax dollars to bolster police service in other communities, and make our community less safe.
The threat to our community
Nassau County Police operate in a big city manner. This involves a style that waits for your emergency to happen before responding. They also cover a lot of areas in our county, meaning they can move your police protection around at will, leaving our community vulnerable.
Additionally, the size of their department allows them to place a different officer in our community every day. This officer won’t be there to know the nuances of our community. The officer will be there to respond to the closest call to service, which could be outside of Laurel Hollow.
Finally, Nassau County contractually provides their officers down time for meals and breaks, which accounts for roughly 1.5 hours per shift, leaving times of the day where our community may not have any protection.
Why hometown police matter
Oyster Bay Cove Police Officers operate under a more preventative, community-based approach to policing. We are a small, but effective force for good that prioritizes our community and keeps home values up.
- We know our residents. Literally. Many of you have our personal cell phone numbers.
- We proactively patrol our community. Our officers will drive 75-100 miles in a shift, patrolling and ensuring we are engaged in keeping you safe.
- We provide that white glove service that has been the gold standard in our community for almost 100 years. Under our protection, there is always a police officer working to keep you safe 24/7.
Simply put… We are Laurel Hollow. This is our community.
